Feel like Your Life is Crumbling Down? Then You Need to Build it on a Firm Foundation.. Jesus Christ

Have you been feeling like your life is crumbling down around you?

Like you don't know who you are anymore or what your purpose in this world is?

Okay let's just imagine that we're at a carnival... do you feel like you're on one of those teacups that just keeps spinning over and over and you don't know how to get off of it?

Like you're on shaky ground?

If you said yes to any of those questions then you need a firm foundation. You've come to the right place, because today we're going to talk about having a firm foundation, where you can find that firm foundation, and all of that.

First I want to say a quick prayer.... Lord I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. I pray that you open up our eyes to see the truth of your words and to see the truth that you're speaking into our lives Lord. I pray that you open up our hearts to your love and to your strength. I pray that we know that you are our refuge, you are our rock, you are always there for us, and we just have to lean on you and fix our eyes on you. I pray that you lead, guide, and direct us and protect us through every aspect of our lives. I love you with my whole heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.

So for years and years I felt like my life was crumbling down around me. I made so many mistakes and I did so many crazy things in my lifetime, because I was trying to fix this shaky ground. I was trying to control things and put things back together that I didn't know the place where they went. I felt like I didn't know what my purpose in the world was and I mean, you guys, I struggled with this for years. I went through a very crazy stage in my life where I resorted to things that I shouldn't have resorted to because I was trying to find my purpose. I was just trying to find a little bit of stability in my life and ironically I made it way more unstable by doing that. I'm sure some of you can relate to what I'm saying here. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I realized that the reason why I felt like my life was crumbling down and I did all of these things was because I didn't have a firm foundation.

24 "Therefore everyone who hears the words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." -Matthew 7:24-27

So I was building my house or my life on sand; on worldly desires, materialistic things, lies, and these people that weren't good for me instead of building my house on rock. The Lord is our rock, he is our firm foundation, and we have to build our life on him. I always knew about God the Father and I knew about Jesus Christ, but in that period of my life I had strayed so far away from him and I felt so lost. It was because I hadn't built that firm foundation with him. I was just doing the things that I wanted to do and living the life that I wanted to live. I was building my life on these temporary things, materialistic things, people, lies, and just all of these things. I wasn't building it on Jesus Christ and having that relationship with him.

"I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."

-Psalm 18:1-2

5 "Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. 7 My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. 8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge."

-Psalm 62:5-8

"Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me." -Psalm 144:1-2

So in all of these scriptures here they are talking about the Lord being our rock, our refuge, our fortress, and our strength. So the reason why my life felt like it was crumbling down around me and why your life may feel like it's crumbling down around you is because we haven't built that firm foundation on the rock, on Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus is our strength, our fortress, he is that rock, and if we don't build our foundation on him then our life is going to crumble down because we have a foundation of sand. Whenever things don't go our way, whenever chaos happens, temptation happens, and all of these things, this wind and this rain happens, then our life is just going to feel like it's crumbling down because we don't have that firm foundation in Jesus Christ.

Having a relationship with Christ helps us to lay a strong foundation of rock. When our foundation is Christ, when we seek to live like him, we follow him, we pray to him, and we worship him, then our foundation is firm and it won't crumble. I'm not saying that everything is going to be perfect and we're never going to have those days where we feel like our life is crumbling or those days where we just feel lost. We are all humans and we're going to have bad days, but we can have hope in knowing that the Lord is our rock. When we pray to him he will give us comfort and help us. We have to continually seek Christ every single day, keep building that foundation with him, and strengthen our relationship with him.

We have to first build a strong relationship with Christ and then our life around that. We can't try to build our own life, do things on our own, and then just kind of add Jesus in the mix whenever it's convenient for us. We have to first build a strong relationship with him and put him first before anything. The Lord is our firm foundation, he gives us strength, he protects us, he keeps us together, he is our rock. We have to first seek him, a relationship with him, and in everything that we do in our life we have to do it for the glory of God, to follow Jesus, seek to live like him, obey his commands, worship him, pray, study the Bible, and then with doing that we will be able to see the way that we should live. Doing these things give us a firm foundation where it can not be shaken no matter what bad news we get or anything that happens in the world. Whenever everyone in the world is freaking out and they feel like the world is ending we will be able to have hope and know that the Lord is our rock, he's in complete control, and we will not be shaken, because we have that firm foundation in Christ. With having that firm foundation in Christ there is nothing that can happen to bring our house or our life down.

So I hope this episode helped you guys to really understand that the Lord is our rock, our fortress, our strength, our firm foundation, and we have to build it on him. We have to put him the Lord first and then everything else will come into place. It won't be perfect, we are going to have troubles, we are going to suffer in the name of Jesus, we are going to have hardships, but we won't be shaken because our foundation is on the rock, on Jesus Christ, on our strength and our protector.
