"You are not good enough."
"You are not worthy of love."
"You are going to fail again."
"You are not going to do great things in life."
These are just a few of the lies that the enemy may be telling you. The enemy feeds us with lies every single day. We could go on and on about all the different lies of the enemy, and a lot of the times it's things that we have believed ourselves, but these are the lies of the enemy and they are not true. Maybe these things are from past situations and we've just become accustomed to these lies, but God gives us truth and we can hold on to the truth of God's words. So In today's episode, I'm going to be going over holding on to the truth of God's words and using those words as our weapon against the lies of the enemy.
First I want to say a quick prayer. LORD, I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. Please open up our eyes, our hearts, our minds, and our ears to you LORD. Holy Spirit please show us the truth and help us to see the truth, know the truth, discern the truth, and live by the truth. LORD I pray that with every aspect of our lives that you just guide us, protect us, and help us through everything. I pray that whatever it is that each person is supposed to receive from this episode, they receive it and they implement it in their daily lives. I love you with every ounce of my being. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Let's get into some scripture:
"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings." -1 Peter 5:8-9
We know that the devil is prowling around like a lion just looking for someone to devour and we have to resist him. We have the truth of God's word. I went over last week about spiritual warfare, so if you didn't check out that episode make sure that you go check that out because it's very important for us to recognize that spiritual warfare is real and to be able to stand firm in our faith. Then we can hold onto the truth of God's word and we can use God's words as our weapon against the lies of the enemy.
"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." -James 4:7
So we have to submit ourselves to God and resist the devil and he's going to flee from us. So how can we resist the devil? How can we submit ourselves to God? We can pray, we can study scripture, we can get in our word, and we can use scripture as our weapon against the enemy. Just like we went over last week in the scripture in Matthew where it talks about the temptation of Jesus. That scripture where Jesus says, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'" We can use that scripture to stand firm and to take all the lies of the enemy and say, you know what? I'm going to worship the Lord my God, I'm going to serve Him only, and there are so many other scriptures that we can use.
"Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him." -Proverbs 30:5
So we can see that every word of God is flawless and He is a shield to us who take refuge in Him. We can use His words. With every situation that you're going through, all the doubts, all the lies the enemy is telling you, "You're not worthy," or you're not this or not that, we can get deep into some scripture and we can see the truth of God's words and take those lies and put the truth on it, the truth that God gives us.
"Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name." -Psalm 86:11
This is actually something that we can pray. We need to just really seek to learn the ways of the Lord, to walk in truth, to stand firm, and to be able to take the truths that we know from God and use them against the lies that the enemy is feeding our minds and against the lies that we've believed for so long. We can take the truth of God's words and we can start really discerning that truth and really recognizing, "Hey, the stuff that I've been believing, the stuff that I've been thinking, it's not true."
Here are 4 Steps to implement:
Everybody is facing different things. Everybody has different lies that they're thinking in their mind, different doubts, worries, fears, and everybody's going through different things. So there are a lot of different scriptures pertaining to each person and the lies that they have been consuming from the enemy, the lies that the enemy has been telling them every day. I can't go over all the specific scriptures with the different lies that the enemy is telling you, but what I can do is give you some steps to implement to be able to hold on to the truth of God's words, to be able to get into some scripture, write down the different scriptures that are pertaining to the different lies that the enemy has been telling you, and be able to hold on to the truth of God's words.
1. Pray
Whenever we are going through any type of trials and tribulations, when we're going through having these thoughts enter our mind, when we're dealing with these different battles, we have to make sure that we are acknowledging God and we are praying to him. This is your own personal prayer so say whatever you want to say to God. Ask him to show you that truth. Ask Him to show you exactly where to go in the Bible to find the truth of His words and to find the scriptures that you need in that moment to be able to see the truth. Ask him to be able to help you to see it, to discern it, and to live by that truth. God will always provide you with everything that you need.
2. Study scripture
So a lot of the times when I'm trying to study the scripture or when I want to find specific Bible verses I will just pray and I'll ask God to reveal whatever it is he wants to reveal. I'll ask Him to guide my hand to the scripture that He wants me to read and I'll just go through and I'll open my up my Bible to that specific thing, and it's usually exactly what I need in that moment. You can do this as many times as you need to, but get in there and really study the scripture and write down verses that are going help you see the truth of God's words and that you can use as your weapon against the enemy.
3. Guard your mind
How can you guard your mind? Guarding your mind is really just standing firm and using those scriptures whenever you're getting those thoughts in your head. This takes a lot of time, but guard your mind and not letting those crazy thoughts enter. Take the scripture and and take those crazy thoughts out. Guard those thoughts and guard your mind. This goes hand in hand with step four which is...
4. Use scripture to fight off the enemy
So after you pray, you study the scripture and you find those specific scriptures that are going to show you the truth of God's words, then you guard your mind, don't allow those thoughts to enter in, and use those scriptures to fight off the lies of the enemy. Whenever you're hearing the different things in your head, "You don't have any money," then think "Okay, well, God provides me with everything that I need. Seek the Lord first and all these things will be provided to you." So another lie may be "No one is ever going to love you." Well, the Lord loves us unconditionally and we can see God is love. In the scripture, it says, God is love and it say that love is patient and kind, and God is love. We can see God clearly loves us. He loves us unconditionally. He's full of love, mercy, and grace, so how could we never be loved? That makes no sense. We are worthy of love because God loves us unconditionally. There are so many different truths that we can use from scripture to fight off the enemy and the lies that he's been feeding us.
So I hope this episode helped you to be able to hold on to the truth of God's words, to know the steps to implement, and to be able to do that. I hope that you really do implement these steps and I know that they will help you to be able to use the truth of God's words as your weapon against the lies of the enemy
I love you guys so much.
