Need PATIENCE? 3 Steps to Start Practicing it NOW! Revealing the Fruit of the Spirit in our Hearts

Struggling with being patient?

Tired of losing your cool?

Feeling like your patience is really being tested lately and you don't know how to handle it?

Trust me girl, I get it...like 1000%

Today we're diving into patience. I provide 3 steps to start practicing it right away. I also pair these steps with prayer and scripture. If you have been struggling with patience (like I have) then this episode will definitely help you.

This episode is number 4 of 9 episodes about the fruit of the spirit. The first episode I went over was on what Jesus says about love. The second week was about letting your joy shine through. Last week we went over finding true inner peace through Christ Jesus. If you haven't checked out those episodes, go check them out first and come back to this because all of these episodes are going to go hand in hand with the fruit of the Spirit. To really take this journey of transformation with me, you need to make sure you check out each episode and do the reflection on each episode. I know that if you take this journey with me to really dive deep and reveal the fruit of the Spirit in our hearts, that it can and will transform your heart.

So first what I'm going to do here is say a quick prayer to reveal patience in our hearts:

Lord I pray that you lift up every single person listening to this right now. I pray that you open up their eyes, their ears, their minds, and their hearts to you Lord. I pray that you reveal patience in our hearts, that we seek you in all that we do, we trust in you with all of our hearts, and in the times that we need to be patient, that we just be still, lean on you, let you guide us, and trust in you. I love you so much Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.

All right. So now that we've asked God to reveal patience in our hearts, I'm going to go ahead and just get straight into some scripture:

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." -Galatians 6: 9

So in this verse here it's saying not to get tired of doing good and we will reap a harvest if we don't give up. This is so important to remember because, especially for me, having patience has always been super hard, and when I don't get immediate results I automatically think, "maybe that's just something I shouldn't be doing." Especially during this past year of really strengthening my relationship with Christ, doing this podcast, spreading the gospel to others, and just really trying to stay faithful with my god led calling, I have had to really learn how to practice patience. Practicing patience is not easy, especially if you're not a patient person, but you just have to remember that you will reap the harvest if you don't give up. Nothing good comes from giving up and we just have to continue to stay faithful to doing good and doing the calling that God has placed in our hearts.

"Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes." -Psalm 37: 7

This verse is so powerful. God will always come through for us, but it's in his perfect timing. Our timing is not his timing and just because things don't happen the way we want them to, or things aren't going as we planned, we can't automatically just think that God is not here for us or he won't come through for us. He will come through in his perfect timing. When things don't go our way or when people are succeeding in their evilness, when it seems like everything is against us, we have to remember to be still and wait patiently for the Lord and he will come through in his perfect timing. This also leads me to the next verse....

"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." -Exodus 14: 14

Now in this verse Moses was talking to the Israelites whenever he was leading them out of Egypt. Pharaoh and the Egyptians were after them, they were terrified and they were wondering why Moses even brought them out of Egypt, and this is what he said to them. This verse is so powerful because, a lot of times we want immediate results and we feel like the Lord is not there for us, or we start freaking out whenever it seems like disaster is about to strike, but just have to be still and know that the Lord will fight for us. He is here for us, but we have to trust in him 100% and just know that he's got us no matter what.

I actually have a podcast episode on how to be still and let God guide you if you guys want to check that out. I know that'll definitely help you with trying to learn patience and just knowing how to be still and letting God guide you.

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." -Romans 12: 12

So when stuff is painful, or when things aren't going our way, or when we feel like there's no hope, we have to be patient and know that the Lord's got us and he is going to help us through it. He's going to get us through this we have to be patient and wait for his perfect timing.

"I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." -Psalm 40: 1-2

When we wait patiently for the Lord, he will hear our cry, and he will get us out of whatever situation we're in. Whatever sticky situation, whatever bad situation that we're in, he will lift us out of that and he will fight for us. I know it is so hard to be patient whenever you're just looking for a quick result. I have always been one of those people that wants quick results and I know it's not easy to be patient and give all of your trust to the Lord and just wait for his perfect timing, but that's exactly what we need to do in order to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We cannot try to be on our own time. We can't try to control things on our own. We have to trust in the Lord completely. He is the almighty, he is in complete control, and we have to give that to him.

Here are the three steps to practice patience:

1. Pray

-This is the most important step

-You want to pray and ask God to reveal patience in your heart

-This is your prayer to God, so whatever you want to say to him say it.

2. Be still

-I know being still can be very difficult

-Whenever I'm trying to be still, I just sit there and take a few deep breaths and trying to silence my mind.

-If you are having a hard time silencing your mind, pray that God will take all the distractions away.

3. Journal

-There are a couple of different things that I want you to write:

A. Write down all of your thoughts that you're thinking in the moment

-Think of what is going on in your life right now that is causing you to be impatient.

-Just write down whatever you can think of about your situation and the reason why you need to practice patience.

B. Write down all of the times that God has came through for you

-It's so important to write those things down is because whenever you're trying to be patient, sometimes it can be very difficult to focus on the times that God has came through for you and it can make it really easy to think that he's not going to be there for you.

- When you focus on all the times that God has came through for you, it really helps to keep you grounded and to know that if you just stay patient and wait for the Lord, that he will come through for you again.

I hope this episode helped you guys to practice patience and to know that the Lord has you. He's always right here with you, he's never going to leave you, and whatever you're going through right now, you will get through this. You have to wait patiently for the Lord and know that he will fight for you. He will come through for you if you trust in him completely and wait patiently for him. I'm praying for you and sending lots of love and good vibes your way.

I love you guys so much.

Never forget to choose faith over fear.
