PRIDE. 3 Things to Help You From Being Caught Up in it. The Struggles That Christians Face. Part 3.

In this episode I go into the struggle of Pride that Christians face. I pair this with scripture and 3 things to help us with pride and humbling ourselves.

So I actually started this series a while back about the struggles that Christians face. Part 1 was on temptation and it was episode number 21 that I posted back in April of 2020. Part 2 was about guilt & shame and that was episode 22. Then I just decided to do episode part 3 now about pride. I already had all 4 parts of this series in mind of exactly what I was going to do. After I did part 1 and 2 I just put the others on the back burner because God had called me to do some other things. I think now coming back to part 3 and 4 is perfect because of all of the Bible studies we've been doing and the things that we've been talking about. So without further ado, let's get into it....

First I want to say a quick prayer.... Lord I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. I pray that you open up our eyes to see the truth of your words and that you open up our hearts. I pray that you reveal your truth to us, whatever truth you want to speak in our lives Lord reveal that to us, and open up our ears to listen to what you have to say. I love you with my whole heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Alright, so pride is a big problem today and it was a big problem back in the day of the Bible. I know we've talked about in our Bible studies on John how the Jews struggled with pride. That was one of the reasons why some of the Jews that believed in Jesus didn't ever speak up on it because they were too prideful. They didn't want to lose the acceptance of the other Jews and the priests and the officials. Pride is something that everyone struggles with. When it comes to pride, when we are Christians and we're disciples of Christ, sometimes we can let pride get in the way because we don't want to admit if we have a problem or if we've done something wrong. But every single person in this world is a sinner, we're all humans, and we all make mistakes.

I know for me with spreading the gospel, doing Bible studies with you guys, and basically everything that I do on social media or period of my life is talking about Jesus Christ, I have to really make sure that I humble myself and not let pride get in the way. It's important to let others know that we are humans and we all make mistakes. I'm not perfect and I am a sinner just like everybody else. I have to admit whenever I do make mistakes or I have a problem. I have to come on here and be raw and emotional with you you guys, because I wouldn't be able to make a full impact on your life if I just came on here and acted like my life was perfect and I never did anything wrong. With pride we don't want people to think less of us and sometimes we may think that because we're Christians that we're supposed to be exempt from sin, but that's not true.

"When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." -Proverbs 11:2

"But he gives us more grace. That is why scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

-James 4:6

"Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited."

-Romans 12:16

5 "Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility towards one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power forever and ever. Amen." -1 Peter 5: 5-11

So all these verses here are talking about pride, how pride is not a good thing, and we have to humble ourselves. God will help us with whatever struggles we're facing, but we cannot let pride get in the way. We have to recognize and realize that we are all sinners, we are all humans, we all make mistakes, and no one is better than anyone else. The most important thing is spreading the gospel, love, light, and the grace, love, and the mercy of Jesus Christ. We can't let our pride get in the way of us wanting to spread the gospel because we don't want to lose the approval of worldly people. Also when we do spread the gospel it's important for us to let others know that we make mistakes, we're sinners, and we're human just like everyone else.

Here are the three things that we have to do to help us from being caught up in pride:

1. Recognize that we are all sinners

2. Repent

-Anytime we make a mistake or do something that we know we shouldn't do we have to repent for that.

3. Humble ourselves under God's mighty hand

-We're no better than anyone else. We are all human and we all make mistakes

God is the almighty. He will take care of us and he will help us. He will take care of our anxiety, our worries, our doubts, our fears, everything that we need, but we have to recognize that we are sinners, repent, and humble ourselves. We cannot let pride get in the way you guys, we cannot do it.

I hope this episode helped you guys. Next week we will be going into the struggle of feeling like an outcast that Christians face so stay tuned for that.

I love you guys so much.

Never forget to choose faith over fear.
