In this episode I dive into the truth of Spiritual abundance, how it's attained, and where you can find it. I speak my truth that I have learned over the past couple of years to help keep you guys from being deceived by the new age way of thinking.
I want to say a quick prayer before we get completely into this episode... Lord I pray that you will lift up every single person reading this right now. I pray that you open up our eyes to see the truth of your words, that you open up our heart, our mind, our ears, and our soul to you. I pray that we are open to receive spiritual abundance from you and that we have an abundance mindset that's not of this world, but that is set on spiritual abundance that we can only get through you Lord. I pray that you will lead, guide, and direct us through every single aspect of our lives and that we lean on you every step of the way. I love you with my whole heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
So first I just wanted to point out with having an abundance mindset I'm not talking about the new age interpretation of spiritual abundance, where you focus on your inner self and the universe is just supposed to give you everything that you want and all of that mumbo jumbo. I used to believe in all of that stuff so I'm not saying that it's not easy to be deceived by that. Trust me I was there... but having an abundance mindset and receiving spiritual abundance is something that you can only gain through Christ, not through the universe, not by tapping into your inner goddess or whatever new age stuff that they're saying nowadays. I don't mean this in an offensive way if that's something that you've practiced. I'm not here to offend anyone. I'm here to teach people the truth of God's words, to spread the gospel, and to just speak the truth that God has given me and that he's spoken into my life so I can help you guys to discern the truth. We live in a world full of deception and lies and it is my duty to spread the truth that I have learned from the Lord to you guys so that you may not be deceived like I was. So I just wanted to point that out there.
The spiritual abundance that we get from Christ is an appreciation of life in its fullness. It's having joy and strength that only comes from the Lord. It's being able to be happy and content no matter what's going on in our lives and no matter how the world is around us. If the world's crumbling down around us, us still being able to be content and full of joy, because we know that the Lord is our savior and our hope is in him. Our hope isn't in materialistic things, temporary things, and temporary people, our hope is in the Almighty.
So I'm going to put some scripture for you guys here that pertains to spiritual abundance:
"Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security."
-Jeremiah 33:6
So here the Lord is promising restoration for his people. They have been full of wickedness, deception, and deceit (just like the way the world is today). The verses above this one talk about his anger because of their wickedness, but he's also going to restore them, bring health and healing back to the land, heal his people and let them enjoy that abundant peace and security. Whenever our hope is in the Lord and we follow him, he gives us that peace that we don't receive from the world. We only receive that true peace through Christ. 14 "For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-- that you may be filled to the measure of all of the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."
-Ephesians 3:14-21
So this was a prayer from the apostle Paul to the Ephesians. He was praying that the Ephesians, and us as Christians that have the Holy spirit within us, that we may have the power to grasp the love of Christ, it surpasses all knowledge, and that we may be filled with the fullness of God. When we truly let go of our idea that we have control and we stop hoping in the materialistic things, in conditions, in people and the things around us, and we start focusing on finding truth and strength through God and through the Holy spirit within us; that's when we tap into a full and abundant life. That's when we get spiritual abundance.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
-John 10:10
So we actually just talked about this in our Bible study not too long ago from chapter 10 of the book of John. Jesus is talking about him being the shepherd and his disciples being the sheep. Other people (the thieves) the ones that want all of the authority, the leaders in this world, (I'm just speaking in general) the leaders of that day and the leaders of this day that come to steal, kill, and destroy; they're only in it for greedy gain. They're destructive, deceptive, and full of lies and trickery. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. He came to give us life and for us to have it to the full; to have full and abundant life through him. We can only attain this full and abundant life through Christ Jesus. This is so important for us to understand and that's why I'm emphasizing it so much.
This world will tell you all of these deceptive things: that if you just focus on yourself, self-love, and your inner self, that the universe will give you what you want. The world will tell you that you have to take control of your own life and you're in charge of your destiny and all of this. I'm telling you guys, I was deceived by all of that. I was so into all of that. I have learned throughout these past couple of years with strengthening my relationship with Christ and having the truth uncovered to me through the Lord, that full and abundant life is only possible through Christ Jesus. Like we've read in our Bible studies on John, if we love Jesus then we love God and if we love God then we love Jesus. We can't love one but not the other. So with having that full and abundant life we have to be fully submitted to the will of God and be disciples of Jesus Christ. That is the only way we can have a full and abundant life.
6 "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written: 'He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." -2 Corinthians 9:6-9
So we have to be cheerful givers. We have to know that God's got us, he will take care of us, he gives us life and he gives us everything that we need. We shouldn't be focusing on materialistic things, power, money, and all of those temporary things that we can't take with us to heaven. As disciples of Christ, we should give generously, give our love and attention, help others in need, follow Christ, and seek to live the way that Christ lived. We see through the Bible studies in John all of the miraculous signs that Jesus performed and how he heals the broken and the wounded. Jesus is there for and comforts people that most people wouldn't be there for and comfort.
Here's the thing: when we put our focus on God, we live life according to the way that Christ wants us to live, we seek the truth from God, we are fully receptive to his love, mercy, and grace, and we let the Holy spirit guide us in every aspect of our lives, we will automatically want to help people and be generous. A few weeks ago we did a 9 week journey on the fruit of the spirit and I went over all the components of the fruit of the spirit. Whenever we let the Holy spirit guide us and ask God to reveal those things in our life, our joy will be complete. We attain spiritual abundance by being fully submitted to the will of God, by following Christ Jesus, and letting the Holy spirit guide us.
So I was really thinking of some steps that I could give you guys because I love giving you guys steps that you can take to help you. But with attaining spiritual abundance and having that abundance mindset I can't just give you a few steps and you're automatically going to achieve that spiritual abundance. Having that abundance mindset is something that takes time and effort, strengthening your relationship with Christ, and having a close relationship as possible to him. I have an episode on how to grow closer to Christ. I have an episode on spiritual growth. I have episodes on things that will help you guys, but I can't just give you a few steps in this episode because that's not how it's attained. You can't have a full and abundant life, spiritual abundance, be full of joy, have strength, and all of that just by a couple of steps. It's something that you have to continuously work on with Christ.
Christ will give you that strength, joy, peace, and abundance. He will take away your worries, your fears, and change your heart, you just have to let him. You just have to start. Start praying, start seeking him, start seeking the truth of his words. Study your Bible, silence all of the noise, get rid of all of the distractions, and focus on Christ. Listen to what he has to say (the truth that he's speaking in your life), strengthen your relationship with him and draw closer to him. Whenever our hope and our trust is in the Lord and we know wholeheartedly that he is the Almighty, he's in complete control, and nothing or no one could ever be more powerful than him, we seek him, follow him, and rely on him every step of the way, he will give us a full and abundant life. He will give us that spiritual abundance that can only be attained through the Lord. It cannot be attained through worldly things.
I could literally sit here for hours and hours talking about this and telling you guys how important it is to trust in the Lord and know that our hope has to be in him. That nothing and no one is ever going to be more powerful than him. If you're searching for abundance and joy through materialistic things, that's just going to lead to disappointment and being deceived. I could go on and on about this, but I'm going to stop here.
I hope this helped you guys to understand what it truly means to have an abundance mindset, where a full and abundant life comes from, and the way to have spiritual abundance. We just have to seek Christ in all that we do and know that God is the almighty. He's in control and no one or nothing else is more powerful than him.
