In today's episode, we will dive into the devotional for day 5 of my journal Christ Transforms Me. This is a 90-day journal filled with daily devotionals, scripture, prayer, and gratitude. I first published this journal in January of 2022 when God had put it on my heart to create this journal. Throughout a year of praying, reflecting, and letting God and the Holy Spirit give me all the words, scriptures, and everything for this journal, I published it in January 2022. So each day for the next 86 days, I will post an episode on here going over this journal.
Day 5 Scripture:
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." -John 15:12-13
Day 5 Devotional:
"The love that Jesus has for us is pure and sacrificial. He made the ultimate sacrifice and laid down His life for us so that we may have eternal life through Him. We, as Jesus' disciples, should all love each other as Jesus has loved us. Throughout the book of John, we can see the love that Jesus has for His disciples and how He leads by example. As brothers and sisters in Christ, it's important for us to humble ourselves, serve one another, and show pure love to each other."
If you have been keeping up with my episodes, I just finished a series on love. We went over posturing our hearts towards God, how God loves us, how we should love God and also how we should love others. So, if you haven't checked out those episodes, I highly recommend that you go check them out. We can see in the devotional for today that Jesus commands us to love others the way that He loves us. How does Jesus love us? He loves us so much that He gave up His life for us. He died on the cross for our sins. He humbled himself. He shows that pure sacrificial love for us. He has an agape love for us, and we have to show that love to others and have that pure sacrificial love for others.
I do have this journal available for purchase on Amazon if you want to go and grab one:
So if you want to grab one of these journals and go along with me each day with the journal physically in your hands, then go ahead and do that. Otherwise, you can just pull up the notes on your phone, or you can get a notebook, loose-leaf paper, or a binder, however you want to do it. I want you to just take a few minutes and write down things that you are thankful for and then also write down some prayer requests.
Today’s Prayer:
Lord, please open up my heart to have pure love for others and to receive the mercy, love, and grace that You give me. Thank you heavenly Father for sending Your only Son to die on the cross to forgive me of my sins and give the ultimate sacrifice. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The question for today:
How can I show pure love to others?
"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love." -John 15:9
So that is it for today's episode. I will be back tomorrow for day six, so make sure you stay tuned for that.
I love you guys so much.
