Why Should We Remain in Jesus Christ? Daily Devotionals in "Christ Transforms Me." Day 37 of 90.

In today's episode, we will dive into the devotional for day 37 of my journal Christ Transforms Me. This is a 90-day journal filled with daily devotionals, scripture, prayer, and gratitude. I first published this journal in January of 2022 when God had put it on my heart to create this journal. Throughout a year of praying, reflecting, and letting God and the Holy Spirit give me all the words, scriptures, and everything for this journal, I published it in January 2022. So each day for the next 53 days, I will post an episode on here going over this journal.

Day 37 Scripture:

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." -John 15:5

Day 37 Devotional:

"This is what Jesus Christ said to His disciples. When we ask Jesus to come into our hearts and forgive us and we are baptized, then we become disciples of Jesus Christ. It's so important for us to remain in Jesus Christ in all that we do. We have to follow Him, worship Him, and seek to have a heart and mind like Him. Without Jesus we are nothing, but with Him, we can bear much fruit, have eternal life, and have a full and abundant life."

I want us to go more into depth with this scripture so let's go ahead and read verses 1-8:

1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples."

-John 15:1-8

If you have time, I recommend that you go ahead and read all of chapter 15 of the book of John. So we can see in these verses above that Jesus Christ is the true vine. As Jesus says in chapter 14 of John, He is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him. He is the true vine and we are His branches. God the Father cuts off branches (or people) that don't believe in Jesus, that have a hardened heart and don't accept the gospel of Jesus Christ. The ones that do remain in Jesus (Jesus Christ's disciples,) God the Father prunes. With the word "prunes" there is a note at the bottom of my Bible that says "the Greek for prunes also means cleans." So God the Father cleans all of the branches that remain in Jesus. So as Jesus' disciples are being cleansed, we are being pruned, because we are sinners and have a sinful nature there are a lot of things that we have conditioned our minds to think, do, and feel because of this world so we have to be cleansed of all of that. When you are remaining in Jesus Christ, following Him, seeking to live and have a heart like Him, letting the Holy Spirit guide you, praying, and being obedient to the LORD, there is a sanctification process. Without Jesus Christ we are nothing but with Him, we can bear much fruit and have eternal life in heaven with Him and God the Father.

I do have this journal available for purchase on Amazon if you want to go and grab one:

To Purchase women's journal click here To Purchase neutral journal click here

So if you want to grab one of these journals and go along with me each day with the journal physically in your hands, then go ahead and do that. Otherwise, you can just pull up the notes on your phone, or you can get a notebook, loose-leaf paper, or a binder, however you want to do it. I want you to just take a few minutes and write down things that you are thankful for and then also write down some prayer requests.

Today’s Prayer:

"Lord thank You for always being right here with me. I know that when I remain in You I will bear much fruit, and You give me eternal life. I also know that without You I can do nothing. Thank You for always guiding me and showing me the truth. Jesus, it's in Your name that I pray, Amen."

Today's journal questions:

What happens when I remain in Jesus?

What are some daily things that I can do to remain in Jesus?

Based on scripture, what happens to those who don't remain in Jesus?

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you." -John 15:7

So that is it for today's episode. I will be back tomorrow for day 38, so make sure you stay tuned for that.

I love you guys so much.
