Would You Risk Your Life For Jesus Christ? Is He Truly ENOUGH for You?

Is Jesus truly enough for you?

If it came down to it and everything was taken away from you, would Jesus be enough?

Would you be willing to risk your life for Jesus?

These are some serious questions that we are going to be asking ourselves. Today we are going to go over our love for Jesus and if Jesus alone is enough for us. We're just really going to be diving deep and reflecting on these serious questions today about our love for Jesus and what we're really willing to do for Jesus and the name of Jesus.

First I just want to say quick prayer... Lord I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. I pray that you open up our eyes to see the truth of your words. I pray that you open up our heart to your love, to receive your love, and to give love to others. And I pray that you open up our ears and our mind to you Lord. Please search us and renew our hearts; give us a pure heart Lord. Please open up our mind and our hearts to know how important a relationship with you is, how amazing you are, all of the amazing things that you've done in our lives, and all the times that you've been there for us and helped us grow through things. I love you with my whole heart Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I'm going to go straight into some scripture:

"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."

-Matthew 10:37-39

In these verses this is Jesus talking to his twelve disciples. These are only a couple of verses, but these are some heavy verses right here. It's easy to say that we love Jesus, but how much do we truly love him? If we were to lose everything, if everything was taken away from us (our family, our house, our materialistic things, everything in this world,) would Jesus be enough?

A relationship with Jesus Christ should be the most important thing in our lives. So today we're going to dig deep and we're going to ask ourselves some hard questions. I want you to truly be honest with yourself when you're answering these questions. God knows everything, he knows your heart, he knows your mind, he knows it all. And he already knows the answers to these questions, but it's so important to really dig deep and find out for yourself the answer to these questions so that you can start putting Jesus first, always, no matter what.

Here are questions to ask yourself and reflect on:

1. Is Jesus enough for me? Is he truly enough?

- I'm just going to tell you guys that whenever I asked myself these questions, it was hard, because you really do have to dig deep and not just go surface level.

- If you're a Christian and believer of Jesus Christ, then of course you know how amazing he is and you have love for him, but is he truly enough in your eyes?

- If you take away everything, all the materialistic things, your family and friends, if you take it all away, would Jesus be enough for you?

2. Would I be willing to risk it all for Jesus Christ?

- If it came down to it, would you be willing to risk it for Jesus?

- Would you be willing to put your life on the line for Jesus Christ?

- Jesus died on the cross to forgive us of our sins. He laid down his life for us and in John chapter 15 verse 13Jesus says: "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."

- The world that we live in today is so filled with darkness. There are so many evil and corrupt people and people that don't even want to speak to or associate with Christians, or hear about the name of Jesus. It's important for us to really dig deep and think about if it came down to it, would we be willing to lose our life for the name of Jesus?

- This question could be literally or figuratively. Losing our life also could mean our life of sin. Whenever we're saved and we're baptized, then we're dead in our sins and alive in Jesus Christ.

It's important for us to always remember that we have to constantly, every single day, pick up our cross and follow Jesus and he says that here in the verses that we read in Matthew chapter 10 (in verse 39.) Picking up our cross and following Jesus means putting those sins to death every day. It means killing off those thoughts of temptation, and maintaining a relationship with Christ. We have to follow him, worship him, obey him, humble ourselves, and try our hardest to live like Jesus.

There's so many teachings of Jesus Christ, and we're going over those now in this podcast if you want to check those out. There are so many words of truth of Jesus Christ throughout the Bible and it's so important for us to pick up that cross, to follow Jesus, and to leave our life of sin behind. We are dead in our sin and alive in Jesus Christ. This doesn't mean that we're not going to have temptation or not going to make mistakes because we're human, but we have to choose every single day to follow him, to stand up under temptation, and to let the holy spirit guide us.

There's a few other verses that I want to read here:

Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." -Luke 9:23

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." -Galatians 2:20

So as Christians, when we're saved then we're crucified with Christ, and we live in Jesus Christ. We're dead in our sins and we're alive in Jesus, and the life that we live in this body we have to live by faith in the Son of God (in Jesus Christ.) He loves us so much and he shows us so much mercy, grace, and love. Jesus gave his life for us to forgive us of our sins so that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life in heaven with him and God the Father.

"For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God."

-Colossians 3:3

So these are all the verses that I wanted to put here. I really hope that we're being honest with ourselves today, really digging deep, and answering these questions honestly. It's okay to not have the answer that you may have thought once you dig deep, but it's so important for us to know and to recognize that Jesus Christ is the most important thing, he is enough, he loves us so much, and we should love him more than anything in this world. More than our parents, more than our children, more than our family and friends, Jesus should be number one in our lives at all times.

There are a couple of episodes on this podcast that I want to share with you guys if you want to go check those out. I have an episode on five daily habits to grow closer to Christ and to develop a strong relationship with him. That episode is number 52. Then also episode number 92 is about prioritizing Jesus in your busy life. So definitely go check those out if you haven't already.

Today I want you guys to really just continue to think and reflect on: is Jesus enough for you? If you don't feel like he's enough right now, then what are some things that you can do to strengthen your relationship with Christ? Think of some things that you can do to change your perspective, to prioritize Jesus, and to put him first before everything. Take some time to pray, journal, have that reflection, and have a deep conversation with Christ. This may bring up a lot of emotions and it's okay. It's okay to have emotions. It's okay to dig deep and break that wall, that barrier, that hard shell, and to really get into it because we have to ask ourselves these hard questions you guys,

You never know what's going to happen. In our Bible studies in the book of Acts that we've been going over we've seen so many different things where people are being persecuted for spreading the gospel, for being Christian, and for speaking in the name of Jesus. The world that we live in today is so full of hate just like the world was back in the time of the Bible. There are so many evil and corrupt people in this world and we have to make sure that we're prioritizing Jesus Christ, we're putting him first, no matter what, and we're living our life for him. This world is our temporary home and we cannot love this world or the things in this world. We have to fix our eyes on Jesus and know that our true home is in heaven with him and God the Father. So I hope this episode helped you guys to really dig deep and just ask yourself these hard questions and know that Jesus Christ is enough and he is the most important thing.

I love you guys so much.

Never forget to choose faith over fear.
